Open Question: how can I intimidate people?
I live in NYC. I'm generally silent and have a low voice. It doesn't help that I'm only 5 ' 7 in height and very thin. Often on the streets, I walk past strangers who curse at me. There are many times when people try to clip me in front of me when I'm in a line. I recall many occasions where a person would literally push me aside and receive into the bus before I do. I'm often mad and it builds up inside of me. I want to battle back and hurt them. Then again, being a cautious person, I can't retaliate because I am often alone, always afraid of legal trouble, and there's no way of knowing if the other person is armed. Is there anything I can do to make people, both men and women, generally afraid of me? I want to be intimidating and I hate it whenever someone thinks I'm sensitive, shy, and weak. I was working for an alarm company and installed a camera system below my company name without commercial insurance and personal alarm company license. $1200.00 was total amount of the camera install. I'm not going to lie this a complicated situation and I might not be the best writer in the world but I'll try and explain it best I can. I'm Dan I'm 28 and entering the third year of my marriage. I adore my wife and I adore my life. I am an extremely glad go lucky type of guy. I've won the lottery for a money and overall I'm pretty much a glad guy. My nephew moved in with us about 7 months ago maybe 8. He's 16 right now he was 15 when took him in. We are the legal guardians of him. We took guardianship of him after his mom my sister and her husband committed suicide. They burned down their home trying kill everyone inside including my nephew but he got out in time. And my wife and I wanted to take him in because we had a great close relationship with him. Well of course I was grieving over my sisters death but my nephew by the way his name is Zack seemed like he didn't even care like nothing happen. He told me he didn't care and after that I got him into some counseling. And then after a couple of weeks in counseling he broke down and told us that my sister and her husband hit him and describe everything that is an emotional and physical abusive relationship. The things that they did to him if I only had known. I had no clue, he plays football and when I would ask him about scars and bruise he just would say its from football. He seemed glad and every time I was around them they seemed glad he never wanted to talk about his parents that should have been a clue. But I never would have guess living only a mile away from them I feel horrible about it. Because I’ve always said he could arrive to me about anything and I guess he felt he couldn’t. Zack has a girlfriend her name is Kali she’s 16 she is like a little sister to me because I’ve watched her grow up and she calls me her older brother. Open Question: Should more be done for victims of all crimes?
Alright, my state (CA) has a victim program to help those who have been victims of crimes, yet when my husbands car was stolen last night and was in a tiny accident, they won't assist us for anything. Not the tow the CHP had done to it without calling us first when it is still in road legal driving condition, nor with the body damage done by the man they caught fleeing from the accident. Because it is my husbands beater car to go to and from work (mechanic,) and was a tardy model car that was traded for his labor and parts on the old owns other car, and frankly not worth more the $1,000, we just had the min coverage on it. I mean, we aren't too concerned with the body damage as my husband says he can care less so long as it is road legal and still runs. But with the economy the way it is and trying to lift a family (not to mention my sons birthday that is right around the corner,) we can't just toss money away like this. Warning, those who have later model Saturn cars without the chip in the keys, they are VERY easily stolen and the top one as "shaved" keys make them an easy hit. Also, they did receive the man who stole it, although it is debatable if he took it after it was already stolen, either way though, he was driving a car that wasn't his so he basically stole it either way.

Gay marriage has been debated every around the world, on whether it is right to allow them to marry. My belief is that no one should interdict the same sex to marry. There are many stated facts on why gay marriage should be legalized, but many are too judgmental. Gay marriage is a well known debate that has been going on for years and I believe it is time to open our hearts to everyone. Nobody should have the right to prevent marriage because they happen to share the same private areas. If they adore each other and they are committed to a safe and joyful relationship, why not? According to Kathy Belge, She says: “So, what’s the big deal? If two people adore each other, shouldn’t they be allowed the same rights, privileges and responsibilities, no matter their genders?” Many people do not realize the great effect it can make if gay marriage was legalized. We would look how finally the battles are over and everyone would be able to make their possess choices. This world would be such a better place, if we every accepted each other. Open Question: Really need help with this ongoing problem. How can we get her to go to school?
My sister is 13 and has not been to school for over a year now. It every started when she made the jump from primary to secondary school, she seemed to like it at first and was doing really well in her subjects. She was also in a class with 4 of her best friends which is rare at the school she is at, they normally mix them every up. These friends would arrive to knock for her every morning without fail. After a while though, she started complaining about being sick and had days off, then more days off and eventually it turned into around 2 weeks that she had been absent from school. Being her big sister I saw right through this and knew there was an underlying problem for why she didn't want to go to school. I tried speaking to her about it but she would snap and say that nothing was wrong and that she was sick. I knew she wasn't sick though, because in the day time when my Mum was at work she would be full of beans and lively, playing with our dogs and watching DVDs. I told my Mum numerous times of my suspicions. I told my Mum I was sure she wasn't sick, as she was lively in the daytime and seemed completely fine. We were also concerned because we knew she would have loads of work to catch up on when she went back. My mum tried talking to her but she just wouldn't say anything. She would say she didn't feel well and would go completely silent when we asked her what was wrong. More weeks passed and the upcoming months are extremely hazy to me now. every I remember is my sister refusing to go to school, and if we tried talking to her about it she would not say a word. My mum would receive her up every morning for school, encourage her to go in, remind her of how important it is, but she would refuse. My mum would then become extremely upset and frustrated, and I remember many mornings when she would go to work in tears. I tried talking to my sister myself, but she would just tell me to go away whilst being in tears herself and she would close the door on me. Eventually it got so bad that my Mum got in contact with loads of people; education welfare people, counsellors, everything. My sister would have appointments with doctors, education people, the school, but she would refuse to go. She would close herself in her room and not talk for hours, days even, sometimes. Eventually a group of people came to our home; someone from the education welfare group, someone from the legal team, and a social worker called Jill. We managed to receive my sister to sit downstairs gift at the meeting. I can't remember how we got her to arrive downstairs for this, I think I had previously spent a bit of time with her to receive her to open up to me, and we had agreed that she wouldn't have to say anything at every, just sit downstairs. The social worker was very down to earth and seemed to receive on with my sister well, actually managing to receive her to open up a little, not about school though. At this point it was an achievement if she actually spoke to any strangers at every. Anyway we agreed that Jill would arrive back to talk to my sister, and I agreed with her that she would only have to talk about school for two minutes. After a load of questions it just basically came down to the fact she was scared about the bigger school, there were far more people and she felt below pressure about her work. I found this odd as it's something everyone has to go through, and from personal experience it isn't that bad. I still believed there was something else, such as bullying. After this meeting I spent time with my sister and she opened up to me saying how she didn't like certain teachers and she hated P.E and so on. She's said loads of different things to me and my nan etc, she's said she even hates crowds even though she gets on crowded buses fine when she goes out with my Nan and she always goes supermarket shopping with my Mum every week, absolutely fine. After this Jill came again and we made an agreement, my sister had a choice with her schooling. She was able to only go in in the mornings/afternoons or only do the subjects she likes. She agreed to go in in the mornings, but when it came down to her first day, she didn't go back. She just close herself in her room and didn't talk to anyone. When me and my Mum had a private meeting with Jill, she told my Mum that because it was coming up to half a year of missing school, my Mum would have to be far stricter on my sister; she would have to take away her Dvd player and luxuries and tell her she was only allowed them back if she started thinking about going back, or at least talking about it. The idea was to take away her hobbies at home so that she was extremely bored at home in the day time, and her only option was going back to school (this is how desperate the situation had become). However, one of the biggest problems is that my Mum will not be strict on her. The problem is, she won't be strict on her. She says she sees it as "abuse". This causes a lot of tension between me and my Mum as I do not agree with being soft on her, that is what is making it easier for her to stay at home. She lets m She lets my sister take control rather than taking control herself. During every this time my sister has still got everything she wants; presents, clothes, even new pets. When really, the idea was to take away these things from my sister until she goes back. Instead, she's still got everything she wants even though she doesn't go to school, she's got pet ducks, a laptop, a rabbit, goldfish, everything. I really am at a loss now on what to do. Nobody has contacted us about what happens next even though my Mum has contacted people every week to be updated on what's going to happen. I can't stand seeing my sister at home every day doing nothing with her life, she is so intelligent and a really great person underneath it every, but she just seems to be sinking into depression and is very withdrawn. I keep telling my Mum she needs a counsellor but nothing is done, we can't afford a psychologist and there is such a huge waiting list. I just wish my Mum would be stricter on her, but she says it I just wish my Mum would be stricter on her, but she says it isn't in her nature, and I know if I say she needs to be stricter she will say "Ok then I do everything wrong, this is every my fault" or "What so I abuse my child to receive her to go back to school?" You just can't receive through to her. I know it seems wise to receive people to arrive round again, but Jill was a one off thing as she doesn't do home visits and my sister will not arrive down to look people at every now. Our doctor even came round once and she close herself in her room and didn't say a word to him. Apparently home visits are also against "health and safety" regulations and so people are hardly even allowed to arrive to our home. Has anyone had any similar problems? I REALLY need some help with this :(. Thanks for being so insensitive. It's not made up, it's a problem that is causing my whole family worry and hurt, and I was hoping there would be some decent people who would actually be bothered and help me out with this. I have 2 credit cards that I did not pay due to loss of employment, they were initially at 500 dollars each but because of tardy fees and overlimit and I assume legal fees are both at over 2000.00 each and both suing me with a court date in the end of March, will they be freezing my bank account after the outcome? thank you for any help,

I live with my mom and have been out of high school for about 2 years. However, I had been attending an adult high school taking courses I would need for University. I was in adult high school for about 1 year and a half approximately. I had to upgrade my marks as I was sick in high school, which kept me from getting the marks I could have had. My dad was paying me child support throughout my days at adult high school and now believes that he should have not paid because i was not attending university or college at the time. Adult high school required that you go to class 3 hours a day 3 times a week. According to their standards that was considered full-time. Was my mom entitled to the money? Any advice I could argue in court perhaps? I've never been to court and I am quite nervous. Any help would be amazing.
Open Question: Have I ruined chances for a good law school?
Hi, I was always a good student and school and so got into a top 10 undergraduate business school majoring in Business Law, Management, Marketing and minoring in French. I plan on going to law school after this (my dream schools would be Michigan, Cornell, Georgetown, Emory or Notre Dame). Once I got into college, I lost focus for a while in my second semester of freshman year, and so I have a massive drop in my GPA (from 3.7 to 3.2, giving me a cumulate of about 3.45). After I realized my mistake, it realized it was much tougher to receive my grades up than I thought it would be. This school is very accounting, finance and stats oriented and so we have to take many, many quantitative sort of courses which are mandatory (and I find these very difficult). I find my business law class very easy and fun (I'm just better oriented for things like that). So now I'm in my second semester of sophomore year and almost done with every non-major mandatory classes (accounting, finance, stats) but I realize it is nearly impossible for me to lift my GPA over a 3.4 until I receive these classes out of the way and can take every business law courses. So the question is- if I graduate with a 3.6 GPA, two good, strong internships, and A LOT of extracurricular work (a paid teaching assistant position to a business law professor, founded a management workshop, founded a legal case analysis workshop (president of both workshops) helped new businesses in this college town with establishing themselves (still getting this club underway), paid research work in entrepreneurial trends amongst minorities, and do more and more work with the business law department) and receive a solid LSAT score, over a 170, and a strong GPA in my major (not so much in my mandatory classes during freshman and sophomore years) and a semester study abroad, and some work (1-2 yrs) experience in corporate law after undergraduate- do you think I have a chance of getting into any of these law schools?

Open Question: Legal question about debt collection court case. IL resident vs Midwest Credit Collections.?
I was entered for a default judgment in a court case involving midwest credit collections for slightly over 1500 dollars on 5/01/2008. I never received a summons for court in person, the mail, or on my door. I have only been to court for this one time, as i didn't know the case existed, which was when i was arrested for not appearing for a court date. The summons they used was apparently an "Alias Summons filed with Proof of Service". This is my first question, What is this? a mailed letter? a summons paper hand delivered? I do not recall getting this, so i went to jail for it until i Motioned for release, which was granted by the judge. The judge then set, cause continued for further order. Today i got a letter in the mail from Midwest Credit Collection stating that The petition for adjudication of indirect civil contempt has been continued for hearing on 4/08/2010, and that A warrant may be issued if i do not show up to place an answer to the Petition for Rule to show cause. What my second question is then, is can i receive this case dismissed, and how? Would it be possible to use a Request for Production of Documents to do this, or should i somehow file an appeal on the default judgement that was entered on 5/01/2008? I live in the state of GA. The law states that it is legal for anyone at the age of 16 and over to move out. However you can not buy or pay rent for a place, which would mean you move in with someone you know that doesn't mind you staying for free. I am about to turn 17 in June, but i just cannot take living here anymore, i bring home good grades, do my chores, never receive into any trouble, but every that i ever receive is yelling, anything i do is never enough. I thought about not moving out because i didn't want to tear my family apart, but i am finally to the point that i realize that they are the ones tearing the family apart and that this is my life and i want to live it for me. But the dilemma is a: would i have to have parental consent to move out even tho the law says it is legal, and b: the lady that i would be moving in with has a son that i am dating who is 19. Would i still be able to move out?

After my daugther turns 18, the court ordered child support will end, my ex wife is saying if I don't keep paying the child support she will go to court to receive an order to have me support paying for the college? Anyone know if there is any truth to this? I thought once a child turned 18 the legal obligation to financially support that child ends? I am in Virginia. It absolutely never ceases to amaze just how infatuated this lost and wayward teenage generation is when it comes to engaging in frivolous and self destructive activities; such as participating in what’s known as this concept of “partying”, which often is associated with the brutalities of sex, alcohol, drugs, and legal issues. Why is it that these teens pick to be enamored with such hedonistic activities when they could be doing so much more productive and contributory things for society? Whether it’s scrubbing the floors, cleaning the toilets or doing extra yard work for their parents, helping a younger sibling with a math problem, or even just doing daily pharmaceutical store runs for the elderly man or lady down the road that has an arthritis, back, or foot fungus problem; is it very clear to look that we as a collective society must do everything we can in encouraging this troubled and rebellious teenage generation to recognize that this barbaric practice known as "partying" will only bring about their self destruction. Open Question: Got kicked out of nuke school and given a bs extension?
I don't expect anyone to be able to tell me that I should or shouldn't have this extension, I am really just looking for someone who knows if I have any other options than what I've already done and what's being presented to me as what I could do. It's a long story, but if you think you know how navy things work well enough to help me out please take the time to read through it and give me some advice. (I feel more comfortable going to strangers because I can be more honest about my intentions and not have to sugar coat it like I've been doing with my COC) I joined the navy May of 2007 and started Nuke A school on the ET track in June of 2007. My A school was 6 months long and I made it to the end in December 2007, but did not graduate because I failed comp and then couldn't pass my academic board. As a result of this I did not receive any of the nuke benefits I didn't receive promoted to E4 and I didn't receive any extra money period.(Should note here that my original contract was for 4 years and upon completion of A school I would sign a 2 year extension in order to receive my crow. I never signed that 2 year extension because I wasn't getting a crow, I actually got knocked down to E2 because the college time that was accounted for in my record couldn't keep me at E3) I left on good terms in March to IT A school with no extension in my record. I finished that school in May 2008 took my leave and came to Italy for my first duty station in June of 2008(this is where I am now). When I got here I had told my LPO that not every of my college credits were in my record and that's why I was an E2 and not an E3(Everyone thought I got in trouble for failing nuke school and that's why I was knocked down, but that was not the case, I left in good standing and that's why I was allowed to take another A school). They couldn't fix that and instead decided that after looking at my situation I should have an extension because of the nuke school. They made me sign a 19 month extension as payback for 6 months of school.(I have the instructions that explain that the chart they went by is for special programs and nuclear power school if anyone would like to look at those i can post them later, but the details of the situation aren't so important to what my options are to try and receive this resolved). This is the only extension I signed for nuke school, I was never given anything by PSD in Charleston(This is where every nuke A school drops go through) when I was going through the process of being denuked. I was told, like every the other A school drops that we would only have to serve out our 4 year contract. The way everyone here is reading it is that this is the chart for anyone who ever fails out of any school period so they every think it's justifiable. There are reasons I didn't try to drop it earlier but that's more information than needed. The fact is I am trying to receive this dropped right now before I start serving my extension in May 2011. My LPO is taken my situation in front of multiple chiefs and to admin and the career counselor where everyone is looking at it the same way and telling him that I deserve this extension. I'm told that the way to drop an extension is to route a chit and the people who would look over the chit are the people my LPO has already spoken with. I could route the chit, but chances are it will receive denied because everyone who would look at it has already decided that the PSD here was correct in making me sign the extension. What I need to know is are there any ways to go around my COC to receive this handled? I don't know anyone at the PSD in Charleston, but is there a way to go through them or to maybe go through legal to receive this taken care of? Or someone higher? I don't know enough about the navy to know what my options are at this point and that's my main concern because I know I shouldn't have this extension and I want to know that I've used every avenue possible to receive this right before I give up and receive stuck in the navy longer than I want to be. My ORIGINAL contract is a 6 year contract, 4 years active, 2 years inactive. My contract has never been changed. This has no relevance to the question, but for the record, I did not shit bag it through nuke school. I tried very difficult and just wasn't smart enough. Right now I am trying my best to keep doing my job the best I can without getting disgruntled and turning into a burden for anyone in my command. It was the Navy's choice to send me to another school.. I am 25, I understand that I am lucky to have a job, but the way my naval career is going this experience isn't going to receive me anywhere. Right now I am getting SHF satcom experience. I will only have two years of experience in this field. If I can receive this extension dropped I would be allowed to stay another year making it 3 years, which would be enough to receive me a civilian job in the field. If the extension doesn't receive dropped I have 2 years of experience fixing printers and if I stay in after that I could be doing a number of things. I have been looking through the BCNR website and am just curious, if I take this route would it be a better idea to route the chit first so that I have that to show for me trying another avenue to receive it dropped? My LPO is pretty sure it will be denied because he has talked to everyone at the command that he can about it so I wasn't going to bother, but maybe I should?

I purchased a laptop from best buy and after 4 months broke, I went back there and the manager said it is their police for only 14 days not more. I called best buy the 1-888# and they said it is a below warranty for one year and I go back and they will fix it for you. So I went to another store which I did not buy the computer from them and right away they told me that it will take 2 weeks to fix it. I was very surprised and now it is fixed.I like to know why the other store did not do it for me and why he gave me difficult time and made me feel bad, he told me he has tow degree in computer.what case I have.please advise me what to do.thank you

For personal family reasons, my fiance and I want to have a secret wedding this summer. I will be 22, he will be 24. We're both full time students and I make around $12000/year. My dad still claims me as a dependent and helps me pay for school and housing. Will I be able to still legally do this without him finding out?
